Plants in Maui

Plants in Maui
	These plants are everywhere in the forests of Maui. I took this picture when we were taking a hike up to a waterfall with the help of concrete. Click here to see more pictures on the hike.

This particular plant is called the Bird of Paradise. I think it is a very awesome plant. The petal type things on the plants hold a lot of water, so I think they get a lot of nutrients just through the flower. They are very cool looking plants. I found this Bird of Paradise on the Iao Needle trail.
	I don't know what type of plant this is, I just thought it was neat looking with the green, the red and the yellow all on the same leaf. I also found this plant on the Iao Needle trail.

This plant was a yummy treat. I saw a coconut laying on the ground by a coconut tree and I opened it up, it was quite small, but it tasted really good. Coconuts are not actually native to Hawaii, they were planted there by someone in the past. Click on the picture to see the steps of how I opened it.
