| The
Road to Hana |
The
Road to Hana is a very adventurous drive. The Road to Hana is a
one way highway in and one way highway out, there is hardly any
space to turn around if you wanted to, and if you do, you do miss
out on a lot. After a long drive, you come to a little secluded
village and look around, and leave, you can keep on going if you
want and you will soon come to Oheo
Gulch, also known as the Seven
Sacred Pools. If you have a weak stomach and can't handle turns,
I wouldn't advise this for you. I didn't think I would get sick
on the trip, but I almost did. This road consists of over 600 winding
curves and about 54 bridges (most are one car only), and the drive
usually takes 2-3 hours depending how many times you stop. You can
click here to see more pictures of The
Road to Hana, and other pictures that we took along the way.

While
in the town of Hana, you will want to stop down to the beach and
see the beautiful black sand . The water is too strong to swim in
for most, but it is very cool just to see the black sand.

| The
most spectacular spot that we came upon was the Seven
Sacred Pools. It takes about 45 minutes from the town of Hana,
but I think it is definitely worth it. The pools are located in Haleakala
National Park, and you can swim in the pools if you want. You can
stand on the bridge and look up to the top pools and look down on
the bottom pools. We went down to the bottom pools and it was just
an awesome site to see. You can go hiking up to the rest of the pools,
but we didn't have time. |
